discussions and opportunities to ask questions. Principal Floyd and key
committee members attend, and it’s a great opportunity to learn more about special
programs and other opportunities. The Woodson-PTSO Grant Committee will present
the Fall Grant Requests for approval.

Staff Self-Care
We had our first Staff Self-Care Day, November 2, favorite among Woodson
Staff. Healthy food, loving dogs, mindfulness and seated yoga are offered
during the 2-hour lunch period with the purpose of providing our staff with
just a few minutes of calm. We want to send out a huge thank you to our
community partners: Banyan Tree Grill (near Peets and Chipotle) for the amazing healthy Indian Cuisine-check them
out!! Also, thanks to Caring Angels, a fantastic organization that provides highly trained, affectionate and caring
dogs that share their love with people in need. All the handlers are dedicated
volunteers that give their time to support this mission.
If you are interested in volunteering to help “host” the next Staff
Self-Care, the dates are February 22 and April 20, 2018. It’s just a 2-hour
commitment with a big impact. Please contact Mary Beth Quick, mbquick@heartandsoulyogava.com
or 4quick@verizon.net to sign
up to help.

Sports Highlights
Varsity Field Hockey
In
the State quarter-final, the Woodson Varsity field hockey team was paired with
James Madison. The Lady Cavaliers were up for the challenge. Just over three
minutes into the match, senior Emma Hatsler got the first goal of the evening. Madison
evened the score at one a piece. Zoe Hite then took her chances and hit the
back of the net. At half-time, it was 2-1. Cailin Bownas was called into action
several times. Cavs win 2-1
In
the semi-final of the State championship, Cavaliers maintained a solid defense
under heavy pressure from Westfield through the first half. Off a corner,
Westfield launched a rocket shot putting them ahead at half-time,1-0
Westfield.
After
the break, Woodson got back on the front foot. The Cavs put the Westfield
defense under pressure numerous times, but shots were just shy of target. Excellent
contest. Final score, 2-0 Westfield.
