Progress Reports in Wednesday Folders This Week: No Report Cards for K students
Parents should note that kindergarten students do not receive a progress report during the first quarter of school. Our youngest students are still acclimating to the procedures and routines of school during all of first quarter and are therefore not given progress marks during this time. Parents discussed their child's progress during the fall parent/teacher conference.

Report Your Child's Illness
With the cold weather and winter approaching, we generally find an increase in illness. If your child is ill, please make sure you indicate the symptoms when calling Fairview to report the absence. If we know that a student has a contagious illness such as strep throat, a stomach flu, etc... we can complete a more rigorous cleaning in your child's classroom to hopefully further prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. Additionally, we have some students who are especially endangered if exposed to the streptococcus virus (Strep throat). We would appreciate if you would let us know if your child has strep throat so that we may provide the parents of high risk students of the potential danger.

This week we are introducing the character strength of Gratitude. The book Giving Thanks: A Native American Morning Message was read during our morning news via the following YouTube video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE2YHTSQVgY . The "good morning message" in this book is a salute to mother earth and all her beauty, adapted for children by a Chief Jake Swamp of the Mohawk nation. This ancient Iroquois message of thanksgiving is traditionally delivered at the beginning of each day. |
