Bravery is described by P2 as follows:. You act
with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are
difficult or scary. For more information, see the Creativity card
at https://camelotes.fcps.edu/node/1945
Impact Aid Forms. All families are
asked to review and sign the Federal Impact Aid forms that were sent home in
this week’s Thursday envelope. Since it
is a requirement that our office staff follow up with all families regarding
this form, please help by returning yours on Friday. Thank you!
Veterans
Day Recognition. Veterans Day is November 11, and Camelot will be honoring
military veterans with a special bulletin board display. A form went home
today that families can use to recognize veterans. Please send these back to school by November 9
and we will include them in our display. Each class will also talk about
Veterans Day and the contribution our military members have made to our
nation.
School Threat Assessment. From
FCPS: Fairfax County Public Schools has
a well-established policy and protocol for responding to threats of violence in
the schools. To help parents and older students learn more about the role they
can play in keeping schools safe, we have collaborated with the Youth Violence
Project of the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia to develop
short videos with useful information. These brief modules were developed
for parents and children aged 12 and up, and you may want to watch the student
video with your child to answer any questions which may arise. To access these
modules go to www.schoolthreatassessment.com and use parent code pgvsdt and student code sy8zk2
as a password.
Our Thursday
fliers are available on our website in the Thursday Take Home section: https://camelotes.fcps.edu/node/1908.
PTA Fun Run - Pledge Money Due Dec 1 - Thank you to all of the volunteers and parents who came
out to cheer on all of our runners on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day, the kids
had lots of fun with music, crazy hair and socks!! Now it’s time to collect
money. Pledge money is due by December 1st. If we reach our goal ($10,000), we
will have a Camelot Staff tricycle race. Students who turn in the pledge
envelope are entered into a prize raffle to win water bottles, gift cards,
basketballs, or a chance to throw a pie in the PE teachers' faces! Pledge forms
were sent home in the Oct 12 Thursday folder. Get more on the website or see the
weekly fliers. Please contact Molly Southworth at molly.south24@gmail.com or www.camelotpta.org/funrun.
Camelot Buddy Program Needs PTA Volunteers - Starting our fifth year, over 100 students will be
paired together to be part of our Camelot Buddy Program. Students participating
in the program attend a 30 minute activity once a month. The PTA helps organize
these activities with set up, clean up and support during the activity. If you
would like to be on our list of volunteers, please contact Stefanie Farhat at stefswim@yahoo.com or 301-802-8000 or
Laura Allen at lallen5@gmail.com or

diversity by wearing international attire, sharing your favorite international
dish, appetizer, or dessert and taking part in fun cultural activities. Have
your children dress to represent a country or culture to participate in the
Parade of Nations. Children are given passports to visit each country display
or international games/activities and get a stamp. Once they have 10 stamps
they receive a special prize.
We still need volunteers to be an
"ambassador." Create a display to showcase your own cultural pride or
enthusiasm for a place around the world (or region within the USA). Displays
may include native costumes, information/examples of culture, art, music, food,
books, videos, games/activities and more. PTA can provide display boards and
power cords - you will be contacted after you sign up.
Volunteer today! We are looking for dozens of
volunteers to take a 30 minute shift and/or bring a dish or to become an
ambassador. Find more details and sign up to volunteer and/or bring a dish at http://www.camelotpta.org/internationalnight.
