Dear CES Families,
Thank you to all who stopped by on Wednesday for the Principal Partnership Summit. We had some wonderful conversations and I appreciate the feedback that was given.
Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 were treated to a wonderful assembly on Wednesday by the Air Force Strings. They were amazing musicians and entertainers. After the concert, the leader of the group commented that our students were one of the most respectful students they have ever performed for. CES is the BEST!

Café Host
- Do you love children?
- Do you love food?
- Do you love CES?
If you answered yes to these questions, then we have an amazing opportunity for you! We are in need of a second cafeteria host for the remainder of the school year. If you are interested please contact Mr. Blount asblount@fcps.edu.
Last week our students focused on the trait of Creativity. Why
does creativity matter? It helps us solve seemingly impossible problems, create
something we never knew we wanted, or simply see the world in a new way. This strength
often comes naturally to children, because creative people can look at the
world in new and original ways. It is important to remember that creativity is
a process that takes courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the
world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.
The next two weeks our students will focus on the character trait of Bravery.
School Bond Referendum to Be on November 7
Ballot
A school bond referendum will
be on the general election ballot Tuesday, November 7. Polls
will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents of Fairfax County may vote if they
are 18 years or older on Election Day and have registered to vote 22 days prior
to the election (by Monday, October 16, at 5 p.m.).
The building and renovation of schools is not financed through the
school system’s operating funds, but through bonds. Similar to an individual or
a family obtaining a mortgage on a residence to spread the cost of home buying
over a number of years, bonds spread the cost of major capital improvements
over a number of years. As long as debt service costs do not increase
significantly as a percentage of combined general fund disbursements, the
county’s bonded debt will not be a contributing factor to any increase in local
taxes.
Get more information about the school bond referendum.
