Congratulations, Ravens!!

On Thursday evening, October 12, Ms. Salata and Mr. Bourjaily accepted an award from the Virginia Board of Education in honor of our student's academic excellence. The award was presented by the FCPS School Board and is part of the Virginia Index of Performance Awards Incentive Program. The award, The Board of Education’s Distinguished Achievement Award, is to recognize Ravnesworth for the achievement of excellence goals established by the governor and Board of Education.Only schools that have met all state and federal accountability requirements for two consecutive years – and have not experienced significant irregularities in the administration of state assessments – are eligible to earn VIP awards.

Way to go, Ravens! We are so proud of you!

Superintendent Brabrand

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Superintendent Scott S. Brabrand will host five Community Conversations this fall to hear what students, parents, employees, and members of the community are thinking about and what issues are important to them.  Each meeting will follow the same format.  There will be a meet and greet beginning at 6:30 pm.  Following that, Dr. Brabrand will answer audience questions from 7:00-8:00 pm.  Ravensworth is in Region 4, and our Region 4 Community Conversation is scheduled for:

Dressing Up for Story Book Character Day (Halloween)

This year Ravensworth students are encouraged to dress up as a character from their favorite story on Friday, November 3.  In an effort to accommodate all families, students will not be permitted to dress up on Wednesday, October 31. Please reserve school-appropriate costumes for Friday, November 3.  Students may dress up as their favorite story book character, and bring the book to school to share with their teachers and classmates on Friday, November 3.

Please be mindful that plastic/fake weapons and masks that cover your child's face are not permitted.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Attendance

Ravensworth's Attendance Team, lead by school counselor Mr. Austin, continues to work hard to make sure all of our Ravens are on time for school each day. If you should need assistance in ensuring your children get to school on time, please email Mr. Austin at WTAustin@fcps.edu.

Welcome Back!

Join me in welcoming back Sra. Valladares who is returning to us from her maternity leave. The students were in great hands with Sra. Perez, and we thank Sra. Perez for filling in during Sra. Valladares' leave.  The students are so happy to see her return this week!
