CES Family Bulletin #7

Dear CES Families,

It has been another great week at CES! We had a brilliant PTA meeting last night. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing PTA that is willing to go above and beyond to support our students and staff. If you haven't done so yet, please consider joining the PTA.

This Saturday is the Annual Fall Festival. We hope to see many of our students and families there! Next week, CES will have a Family Steam Night in the Café. This event is sponsored by Thomas Jefferson H.S. and should be a great time.

Thursday, October 26th will be the first Principal Partnership Summit. We will meet in the library @ 7:00. All are welcome to attend and learn more about the programs/events that occur at CES. At the conclusion of the summit, there will be a Q & A opportunity. Research has shown that parent/guardian knowledge and involvement in school increases student academic gains, so we hope you will consider attending.

If you have not turned in your child's Emergency Care Card, please do so as soon as possible. This information is critical and used often throughout the school year.

Last week our students focused on the trait of PERSPECTIVE. This strength comes on the heels of open-mindedness. The back-to-back nature of these strengths is by design, as open-mindedness and perspective are closely related and comprise the foundation of empathy.

Next week our students will continue to focus on the character trait of Team Work/Citizenship.

School Bond Referendum to Be on November 7 Ballot

A school bond referendum will be on the general election ballot Tuesday, November 7. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents of Fairfax County may vote if they are 18 years or older on Election Day and have registered to vote 22 days prior to the election (by Monday, October 16, at 5 p.m.).

Bond sales, a form of long-term borrowing, are used to finance the building and renovation of schools and must be approved by voters since they are a future obligation for taxpayers. Schools from all areas of the county are included in the list of new construction, capacity enhancement, and renovation projects.

Get more information about the school bond referendum.
