Picture Day
Friday, October 20
Picture forms have been sent home in your child's Thursday folder this week. If you wish to
purchase a photo package, please fill out and send in a photo selection form along with payment on picture day. Extra forms are
available in the office.
PAYMENT OPTIONS: In addition to check (payable to LifeTouch) or cash, you
may also purchase a photo package online. Directions and necessary ID number are found on the form.
Parent Liaison Corner
Welcome Gunston Parents
and Guardians!
Gunston has a new Parent Liaison who is dedicated to
helping both our parents and students feel that they are an important part of
our Gunston family!
Our Parent Liaison is Ingrid McNealy. Ingrid is very excited
to work with families to assist them with any concerns and interests they may
have, also making sure all of our families get the support and assistance they
may need.
Ingrid is at Gunston and
available on the following days and time:
Monday 8:30am-11:30am
Wednesday 12:00pm-3:00pm
Thursday 12:00pm-3:00pm
Her hours can vary so if
you would like to meet with her please send her an email at ijmcnealy@fcps.edu to schedule an
appointment. You can also reach her directly at 703.541.3625. She also speaks
Spanish, so she can help you if you feel more comfortable communicating in that
language.
Below are some ways Ingrid
can provide assistance:
- Provide new
families with information about the school and community
- Schedule a
certified county interpreter to attend meetings for parents who speak a
language other than English
- Help families
complete required paperwork (such as school forms, health forms, free/reduced
lunch applications etc.)
- Connect families
with other school personnel who provide specialized assistance and resources
(such as school counselors, our school psychologist, and our school social
worker)
- Help parents who
want to volunteer find productive ways to support the school.
- Support the PTA
in its programs and events.
October 16 - Deadline for Reflections submissions
October 19 - General PTA Membership Meeting at 6:00 pm in the library. Our special speakers will be our Kindergarten teachers and Mrs. Robinson our Reading Specialist.
October 27 - Gunston Carnival! 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Order forms for Carnival punch cards should have come home today. Please return no later than October 23rd.
