Haycock Hello 10-6-17
Rachel O’Leary
Welcome Ms. O’Leary to Haycock! She has coached and taught in both England and Africa. Ms. O’Leary had offers from many schools and was so impressed with Haycock, she decided to pick us. Join me in welcoming Ms. O’Leary to Haycock!
In Ms. O’Leary’s own words:
“I grew up on Long Island with my twin sister, younger brother, and large extended family. I moved to London, England after graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, and had wonderful experiences teaching grades 4-6 and coaching lacrosse for over five years. My next 'big move' was to South Africa, where I pursued my Master's degree in Literacy and Language in Education, and taught very special grade 6 students. When I returned stateside last year, I continued my studies whilst organizing two sessions for the Yale School of Management's Education Conference. I am a passionate teacher, an aspiring vegan, and an engaged citizen of our beautiful world! I love reading, traveling, cooking, and laughing! I feel so very lucky to be joining the Haycock community, and I cannot wait to be a part of the grade 6 team!”

A parent has expressed interest in organizing a collective purchase of a large brick from the Brick-a-Thon in honor of the Special Education Team at Haycock and their contributions to Haycock's educational excellence. If you are interested in contributing to this, please contact Kathryn Ramchand directly at kathrynramchand@gmail.com no later than 20 October 2017. Proposed text is as follows:
In Honor of the Haycock
Special Education Team
Promoting an inclusive
community, setting high
expectations, and
enabling full potential.
As many of you may have heard and seen around the school, the Haycock PTA is having a unique fundraiser (a.k.a. the Brick-A-Thon) this year to raise funds for both the Kiss N Ride improvement project AND the PTA's general funds. When you purchase your brick you will not only be funding these worthy projects, but you will be receiving something tangible for your donation—a permanent marker that shows your family’s support of Haycock. The Brick-A-Thon is our PTA’s main fall fundraiser and we want to see as many of our families participate as possible. Don’t miss out!
The PTA tells me they have already sold over 100 bricks, but they are aiming to sell 400 bricks by October 31st to start the construction as soon as possible. Help Haycock reach our goal and order your brick TODAY!
To learn more about what the plan for the Kiss N Ride project entails and to order your brick, please go to: https://www.bricksrus.com/order/HaycockES/
Calling all Haycock Elementary School alumni! Through October 31, Haycock is selling commemorative paver “bricks” that will be placed at their soon-to-be renovated Kiss ‘n Ride on Westmoreland Street. In the years to come, you and your children will be able to see their name and remember the legacy they left at their first school. Visit www.bricksrus.com/order/HaycockES to learn more.
