Cava Dine Out Tonight!
Join us tonight  to dine out at Cava,176 Maple Ave, Vienna. Make sure to mention Stenwood at the register.

Dear Stenwood Families:

FCPS has undergone an audit, and it was found that some students are not in compliance in regards to their vaccinations.  Those families either have already received communication about this or will be notified soon. Mrs. Wallen is happy to answer any questions you might have should you receive one of these letters.

I am pleased to share with you that our SCA will once again support our sister school, Graham Road Elementary through a donation drive for hats, gloves/mittens, and scarves (new, not used, please).  The drive will run from October 16th through October 27th.  Last year when the students were given a new winter clothing item, the principal shared that one student said it felt like Christmas to them.  Not only is this a wonderful service learning opportunity for our students, but it also makes such a positive impact on the lives of so many students who are just a short distance from our Stenwood neighborhood.   Thank you in advance for your generosity and for participating in this act of kindness managed by our SCA.

You are invited to attend our annual informational session from Mrs. Spinelli about the Advanced Academic Program which will occur on October 26th from 8:45-9:30 a.m.  This meeting will be held in the cafeteria.

And don’t forget about our annual Veteran’s Day Breakfast!  Please do mark your calendar if you are formerly or currently military and also be sure to invite any grandparents, uncles, aunts to our celebration.  See additional information within this newsletter.  It is an honor to recognize and show appreciation for the service of our military families.

Sincerely,
Principal Dammeyer
Assistant Principal Riley

Painted Pumpkin

The Stenwood Library Storybook Pumpkin Festival
October 23 - November 3rd

All students are invited to celebrate great books by decorating pumpkins as storybook characters!

Please read the following guidelines.

1) The book from which a storybook character is chosen should be an elementary school appropriate title.

2) The pumpkin must be smaller than the student's head and should fit in a backpack. In fact, the entire display should fit on a paper plate.

3) The pumpkin can be painted, glued, pinned, or otherwise added to, but NOT carved (we would like to avoid the magic of decomposition within the library).

4) The Student should provide three clues (sentences) about the identity of their character on a 4 x 6 card (or similar paper).  On the back, they should write the character's name, the book title, and their own name.

5) Pumpkins will be displayed in the library from Monday, October 23rd to Friday, November 3rd. Pumpkins can be dropped off at the library on any day during that window.  By November 6th, students can pick up their pumpkins or ask their friendly librarian to make them disappear.

Advanced Academic Programs Information Session on October 26th

Please join us on Thursday, October 26th for an overview of the Advanced Academic Program. The presentation will be held in the cafeteria from 8:45am-9:30am and will include time for questions and answers.  Questions may be directed to Caroline Spinelli, Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, crspinelli@fcps.edu
