Math workshop is in full swing for FSES second graders!
Students enjoy practicing math skills through fun, challenging activities and
games. They also have opportunities to work with partners and
problem solve together. Recently, they've been working hard on place value,
skip counting, and rounding.
On Tuesday, September 26, Franklin Sherman families enjoyed an evening of science. Franklin Sherman teachers partnered with the
Children’s Science Center to bring their Family Science Night Program to
FSES to help
encourage students to take interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics) subjects, as well as to encourage students to develop
curiosity in everyday life situations. During the event, students and their parents had the opportunity to engage in many fun, yet educational, science activities.

Franklin Sherman Elementary School is excited to announce this Wednesday, October 4, FCPS is offering a rotational barbecue for our
students during their regular lunch times. FSES participated last year, and the
barbecue was a big hit with our students! The barbecue meal will be served to students in the
regular serving line in our cafeteria. Please review the barbecue menu below:

Cheeseburger on Bun
Veggie Burger on Bun

The next FSES PTA meeting will be this Wednesday, October 4, at
6:30 p.m. in the Franklin Sherman cafeteria. Free babysitting will be
provided in the gym for children three years of age and older. PTA
meetings are a great way to learn about upcoming PTA activities, meet other
parents, find ways to get involved, and hear updates from the school
administration.
Any
students who are newly enrolled in FCPS in grades 3-6 may submit a referral
form for the Level IV Advanced Academics Program. The Level IV referral
form may be completed by a parent/guardian and submitted to Franklin Sherman's
Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Carrie Reinders, by October 5, 2017.
Additional information is available in the Parent Information Packet published
on the AAP website: https://www.fcps.edu/registration/advanced-academics-identification-and-placement/elementary-school.
If
you have questions about the program or the referral process, please contact
Mrs. Reinders at cmreinders@fcps.edu.
The
Franklin Sherman PTA is sponsoring a charity fundraiser to help those in need
from hurricanes Harvey and Irma. An empty water jug will be located in the FSES
front hallway before and after school. Please bring your loose
change to drop into the jug. Our goal is to collect $1,000 to donate to the Red
Cross to aid in the hurricane relief efforts.
If
you have any questions, please contact Kathryn Lohr at kglohr@fcps.edu or Sissi Hopper at sissiphoto@aol.com.
All
FCPS schools will be closed on Monday, October 9, for the Columbus Day holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 10.
Due Wednesday, October 25
