CES Family Bulletin #4

Dear CES Families,

We had another wonderful week of school! Teachers and students are getting into a rhythm with small group instruction during math and language arts. We have been enjoying the nice weather and trying to incorporate as much outdoor learning as possible. This week we conducted our fourth fire drill and second lockdown drill. The students are doing an amazing job during the drills.

The CES staff spent Friday participating in professional development sessions. As a school we are focused on five main areas:

  1. Outdoor Learning
  2. Responsive Classroom
  3. Cooperative Learning
  4. Global Classroom
  5. Executive Functioning

We will be incorporating these five areas into our academic instruction throughout the year. Each of these areas will be explained in more detail at the upcoming Principal Programs. I am very proud of our staff for their continued efforts and dedication to making CES a wonderful learning environment for our students!

Family Field Trip

On Saturday, November 18 CES will be holding our first Family Field Trip! We will be traveling to Washington D.C. to visit two of the Smithsonian Museums (Natural & American History). Part of the day will include a private tour through the Natural History Museum with a Entomologist. This trip is free of cost, but all participants are responsible for their own lunch, drinks, and snacks. We have a limited number of seats available to join us. The bus will depart CES promptly at 8:30. If you and your family are interested in attending, please RSVP by clicking HERE as soon as possible.

Parent - Teacher Conferences

In November, CES will be holding parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress. If you have a question or concern prior to these meetings, contact your child's teacher via e-mail or phone and they will be more than happy to set up a time to talk. Please refrain from impromptu conferences during arrival and dismissal. These both are very busy times of the day and teachers need to be completely focused on their students. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

Last week our students focused on the trait of CURIOSITY. Individuals with a character strength of curiosity like exploration and discovery. They ask lots of questions because they want to learn more about anything and everything.

Next week our students will focus on the character trait of OPEN MINDEDNESS. Please continue to have conversations at home on the weekly character traits covered at school.

We will be listing the P2 character traits each month on our school's marquee.
