The first PTSO Meeting of the school
year is Tuesday, September 12: TOMORROW. It’s Dr. Poole’s final meeting with
us, so please plan to attend.
Parents,
teachers, and students are invited our first monthly PTSO meeting Tuesday, September 12, at 7pm in the Woodson Library. We try to share as much information as
possible through the WeMail, but there is no substitute for face-to-face
discussions and opportunities to ask questions.
Key committee members attend as well, and it’s a great opportunity to
learn more about special programs and other opportunities. This year, we asked
the Dr. Poole to bring a different Assistant Principal with him to each meeting
so that we can better understand the Woodson community. We’ll also be discussing
the PTSO budget for the year. You do not have to be a member to attend the
meeting, but if you’d like to join, we welcome you. Click here to join or
for more information. We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow tonight!

8. Staff Self
Care Initiative – Join the Team!
The PTSO, the Community of Solutions, and Heart & Soul Yoga partner
to provide Staff & Teacher Self-Care Days at W. T. Woodson High School and
we need your help!! The Self-Care Days are intended to provide just a few
minutes of “nourishment” for our teachers who juggle many aspects of their
lives as they play a very important role in making the world a better place for
our children. Teachers enter a space for a few minutes of yoga, mindfulness,
massage and healthy tips, “tastes” or tea. This brief escape is one way that we
support Woodson’s Cav Culture of being: Proactive / Accountable / Empathetic /
Respectful / Connected. We schedule these days 4-6 times each school year
during the 2-hour student lunch period.
How can you support this initiative?
- Volunteer to “host” one of the self-care days. This is super simple; all that is required is for you to be available to welcome the staff as they arrive and guide them to the different options for that day (yoga, mindfulness, chair yoga etc.). This is a 2 ½ hour commitment for each self-care day (generally 10:45 – 1:20pm).
- Volunteer to help contact healthy food vendors and invite them to join the self-care initiative.
- If you know of any health-related businesses (yoga, massage, acupuncture, tai chi, etc.) or healthy food businesses that might want to join, please let us know and we will reach out to them directly.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact: Mary Beth Quick,
mbquick@heartandsoulyogava.com.
