CES Family Bulletin

CES is the BEST!

Dear CES Families,

We had another wonderful week! Staff and students continue to build strong relationships that will be the foundation for a successful school year. Teachers have begun small group instruction in language arts and math. Through small group instruction, teachers are able to differentiate their instruction to meet individual needs of the students. Yesterday was a big day at CES with two Pep Rallies and the PTA sponsored Welcome Back Picnic. The students showed great school spirit at the rallies with school and grade level cheers, sack races, and dunking Mr. Blount and Mr. Douds in the dunk tank. Our annual Welcome Back Picnic was a huge success! We had a great turnout and fun was had by all.

Congratulation Mrs. Settlemyre!

The Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators recognizes outstanding kindergarten through grade 12 teachers who employ innovative approaches to environmental education and use the environment as a context for learning for their students. Up to two teachers from each of EPA's 10 regions, from different states, were selected to receive this award. The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), administers this award to honor, support and encourage educators who incorporate environmental education in their classrooms & teaching methods. Mrs. Settlemyre received this award on Monday, August 28. Please join me in congratulating her on this amazing accomplishment!

Practicing Safety

We continue to practice our fire and lockdown drills. During the first four weeks of school, we will have 4 fire drills and 2 lockdown drills. Please ask your students about the drills and have them explain the procedures and routines to you.
