What's Happening at Mount Eagle?

September 8, 2017

Back To School Night: THIS TUESDAY

Sept 12 6:00-7:30pm at Mount Eagle

When parents and teachers share information, our students can do their best learning. Our Back to School Night is a time where parents can learn about how their child's day unfolds and ways learning can be supported at home. We'll start the evening in the gym where families can meet with our PE, art and music teams as well as our specialists in math, reading, technology library and advanced academics. Then teachers will give a short presentation in their classroom. Each teacher will give 2 presentations so that parents with two children can attend different sessions.  Unfortunately there is no parking available in our small lot. Please plan to walk.

Salad Bar Coming next week!

Beginning this Wed, September 13, our cafeteria will have a "Real Food for Kids" salad bar. All students will first choose vegetables & fruits from the bar. They can then select protein and grains from the bar or the hot entree in the kitchen. We'll practice salad bar etiquette and procedures before the bar opens. Stay tuned!

Important Dates for Next Week and Beyond

Tuesday, September 12 6:00-7:30pm Back-to-School Night

Thursday, September 14 6:30-7:30pm First PTO Meeting in our library

Friday, September 22--No School Teacher Workday

First PTO Meeting: This Thursday, Sept 14

There are so many ways to contribute at our school! At Mount Eagle, all parents are members of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). There are no dues. Instead families are asked to make a donation. You can follow the PTO on Facebook at @MtMountEagleElementaryPTO.

The first PTO meeting will be on Thursday, September 14 from 6:30-7:30pm in our library. Come learn how you can help out at Bingo Night, Multicultural Night, the Spring Dance and Earth Day, to name a few. Learn how to advocate for needs at our school and community. We need all voices heard and all hands to help!

Weekly Communication Sheet Coming Next Week

Please check your child's Thursday folder beginning next week for a paper that explains what your child is learning in the coming week, questions you can ask your child and activities that can be done at home to support that learning. We're beginning this in response to the feedback and information we gathered last year around homework. Each grade level will use the same format so that parents with more than one child here can easily spot the sheet and stay informed. Your child's teacher will share the form at Back To School Night on Tuesday. As always, we welcome your input as we introduce this new way to stay connected between home and school.
