 Dear Rocky Run Families,
We have had a great second week of school at Rocky
Run. Students experienced four full days of the block (Blue/Gold Day)
schedule and have acclimated well to school wide routines and are doing a great
job getting to their classes on time. It was wonderful to see so
many parents of 8th grade students at our first Back to School Night
last evening. We look forward to meeting our 7th grade
parents on Tuesday, September 12 for Back to School Night. We look
forward to highlighting the good things that are happening in our school and in
the community throughout the year.
I am pleased to announce that Ms. Christine Sciabica will
join the Rocky Run MS staff as Assistant Principal effective October 2,
2017. Christine Sciabica is a proud product of Fairfax County Public
Schools. She graduated from Robinson Secondary School and earned a BA in
History and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason
University. She then received her Education Specialist Degree in School
Administration from the University of Virginia. Christine Sciabica began
her career in 1990 with FCPS in the Chantilly Pyramid at Chantilly High School
teaching social studies. After teaching social studies and running the
Student Leadership Program for 10 years, Christine took two years off to raise
her two boys (Harris and Sam). She then returned to teaching, this time
at Westfield High School. In 2004, Christine joined the staff of Stone
Middle School as an Assistant Principal. In her tenure at Stone,
Christine has supervised many different departments as well as overseeing
building operations. She has a passion for technology integration and has
worked for the last 10 years at Stone to bring meaningful technology use to the
classrooms of Stone Middle School. In her spare time, Christine enjoys biking
and other outdoor activities as well as traveling and cooking. Christine
looks forward to joining the Rocky Run community and working with faculty,
staff, and parents to ensure Excellence in all Endeavors!
I know you will join me in welcoming Christine to the Rocky
Run MS family when she joins the administrative team in October.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with your
suggestions, questions, and feedback. I look forward to seeing you at
Rocky Run MS very soon.
