Career Day: November 13th--WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The National Career Development Association recognizes November as National Career Development Month.  In support of this effort, the LMS Student Services Department is planning to hold its annual Career Day on Monday, November 13th, 2017.  We are asking for volunteers who would be willing to share their expertise and career experience with our 8th grade students.  Seventh and eighth grade parents are invited to participate.  Please fill out the short survey below if you are interested!

Free and Reduced Meals

If your family qualifies for Free and Reduced Meals, please remember to fill out a new application.  Even if you filled it out in a previous year, you must fill it out again if your family still qualifies.  A student's application from last year is only valid until October 11th.  As of October 12th, lunches will begin to be charged to the student's account at the regular amount.

Free and reduced price meals are available to students whose households qualify under federal standards.  Please visit the FCPS Food and Nutrition Services website, https://www.fcps.edu/node/31049, to access the form online.  If you wish to complete a traditional paper application, you can obtain a copy from our school office.  After you apply, you will be notified in writing of your child's status.

If you qualify for Free and Reduced price meals this year, you can also choose to fill out the Consent to Share Information for Benefits of Other Programs.  You may be eligible to participate in other FCPS fee-based programs without paying a fee or by paying a reduced fee.

A message from the PTA

Fellow Liberty Middle School Parents,

Let me first say again welcome to Liberty Middle School, and to those who have had children in the school before - welcome back!  Our first PTA meeting will be held on September 21st, 2017, at 6:30 in the Liberty Middle School library.  Although only members are allowed to vote on the business items that will be handled, the meeting is open to all parents who are interested in seeing what the PTA is planning for the upcoming school year, as well as offer an additional opportunity to join.

Regarding that last point, as of September 7th, the PTA membership currently stands at 127, including 34 faculty.  Membership has been closer to 400 in some recent years.  As I previously mentioned, membership in the PTA is the primary source of funding for all of the programs that the PTA supports throughout the school year.  Alternatively, you can still like to support our efforts at Liberty without joining the PTA through the No Fuss Fundraiser.  Both the PTA Membership Form and the No Fuss Fund Raiser Form are located on the PTA website, located at:  http://libertymiddleschoolpta.webs.com/

We are looking forward to a great year here at Liberty Middle School and hope that we can count on all of you to support the programs to come during the next year here at Liberty Middle School.

Sincerely,
Sean Foster
PTA President
