What’s New?

1. 25th Annual Holiday Happenings Craft Show: Please Consider Joining Us as a Crafter or as a Shopper!!

We invite you to participate in the 25th Annual Holiday Happenings Craft Show sponsored by WTW Crew Boosters on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10am–4pm at W.T. Woodson High School.

The Holiday Happenings Craft Show is a juried show and decisions are based on handmade origin, creativity, marketability, and quality of workmanship as evidenced by your photos. The committee also strives to achieve a balance between the different craft media so that we present an event that has a broad appeal to the public. Artisan exhibitors must be the originator/creator of the items being sold.

Crafters: Electricity is included in the booth fee, and best of all, student athletes are available to assist crafters with loading and unloading supplies! The cost of space is $90/space; $110 for corners; Tables $10 each. Register now as the deadline is “when full;” space assignments will go out in late October. Click here to register for HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS CRAFT SHOW.

Shoppers: there is no admission for shoppers. Mark the date on your calendars!

Email any questions to: woodsoncraftshow@gmail.com.

2. Cav Cruise WTW Senior All Night Graduation Party: Updated Information

Best of luck to the Class of 2018 for a great year ahead. The Cav Cruise Committee is already at work to ensure that we have an amazing event on the night of Graduation. Full of fun including mini golf, carnival rides, a casino, lots of food and so much more!!! Here is what you need to know right now:

WHEN: Graduation Night, Wednesday June 23

TIME: 11pm- 5am (it’s a lock-in)

WHERE: Oak Marr RecCenr in Oakton

COST: $75 through the Spring Break

WEBSITE: http://www.woodsonptso.org/cavalier-cruise.html

HOW WE RAISE MONEY FOR THIS: The Cav Cruise is NOT funded by the PTSO. It is solely funded on ticket sales and a few fundraisers listed below.

  1. BUY YOUR TICKET: 80% of our revenue comes from ticket sales so the most important thing you can do is get your senior his/her ticket NOW. When you purchase your ticket in September your child will receive an additional $10k in Cav Cash (our play money for the casino). Click here to BUY YOUR TICKET NOW.
  2. CLASS OF 2018 YARD SIGNS ($20): We will be at Senior Night and Back to School Night selling these signs. We only have 225 so get them while you can. Can’t make it to one of those nights? Contact Carolyn Hutchinson at mrschutch@aol.com.
  3. GRADUATION VIP SEATING RAFFLE ($5 each or 6 for $25): Avoid the hassle of getting to the Patriot Center early! At the end of the year we will raffle off 6 sets of 14 seats. You can PURCHASE these when you register your senior or by clicking here.
  4. FUNDS2ORG SHOE DRIVE: Thank you for your support in our drive thus far. Our goal is to collect 7500 pairs of shoes by November 25 and need the help of the entire student body! We received just over 500 pairs of shoes from the Cav Kick Off and Football Game, but we have a long way to go. Please consider helping us collect in your social circles or places of work. We have a bin in the front office of the school to take shoes at any time. UPCOMING DROP OFF DATES ARE:

* SENIOR NIGHT - September 6

* BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - September 13

VOLUNTEER WITH US: We will be needing over 300 volunteers the night of the event (and you will want to be there…soo much fun). In the meantime, we are always looking for ad hoc volunteers and are in need of a few positions on the Steering Committee. Contact Nanci and Margaret at cavcruisevolunteers@woodsonptso.org to join in the fun!!

FOLLOW US: Facebook and Twitter.

FIND US/ASK QUESTIONS: The Committee be out in force at Senior Night and Back to School Night to take reservations, sell signs, collect shoes and to answer all of your questions! Anne Akers-Smith, Meghan Tidwell, and Annette Wagner are this year’s Directors. Feel free to contact us at cavcruisedirector@woodsonptso.org.

3. CAV Kick-off Dance

The Cav-Kick off Dance will follow the next home football game on Friday, September 8. It only costs $1 to attend and the doors open at 9:00 and the dance goes until 11:00. This PTSO sponsored event is a great way to get the year started and costs only $1. The dance will take place in the Aux Gym. djschaefer@fcpd.edu

4. Mock ACT/SAT Exams

The PTSO “mock” exam program offers full-length ACT and SAT exams to help prepare Woodson students take these college entrance exams. Although the mock exams are full-length “real” tests, the scores are not official, not reported to The College Board/ACT or any college, and should not be confused with the official PSAT, ACT, and SAT exams offered throughout the school year.

This year the Woodson PTSO is pleased once again to have Mindworks Educational Services host this year's Mock SAT and Mock ACT. 100% of the $15 test fee benefits Woodson PTSO Parent-Teacher-Student Programs. Mindworks accepts NO compensation for the 50+ hours they spend analyzing our students' scores and writing our students' reports. In exchange for Woodson PTSO receiving 100% of the proceeds, parents and students agree to attend the Score Report (Results) Session for a brief presentation before receiving the score analysis and packet.

This year’s dates for the Mock ACT/SAT Exams have been finalized:

  1. Fall Test date is Sat, Oct 28 7:30am -12pm. Results Session dates will be confirmed soon.
  2. Winter Test date is Sat, Feb 10 7:30am -12pm. Results Session dates will be confirmed soon.

Check the PTSO website or next week’s WeMail for the Signup link.
