A Successful First Week!

Dear Cameron Families,

We are excited to begin another school year for Cameron Elementary!  We are proud to say that this year, Cameron is rated as fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education.  While end-of-year scores do not define the full scope of what makes Cameron a great school, being accredited is one aspect.  This year Cameron welcomes several new staff members who will join with our veteran Cameron teachers to build on the foundation of last year’s success and continue to provide a strong, engaging education for our Cameron students.  We are ready for a great 2017-18!  See below for information on parent coffees.  All parents and family are invited!

Sincerely,

Mr. Slayter, Principal

Tkach

Introducing Cameron’s new Assistant principal- January Tkach.  Mrs. Tkach has a wealth of instructional experience and is an expert in early childhood instruction.  She also has experience supporting teachers as an instruction coach, educational specialist and administrative intern for grades K-6.  Please introduce yourself to Mrs. Tkach the next chance you have.  Welcome Mrs. Tkach!

Check our new office!  FCPS Facilities Dept determined that the carpet was too old and needed a new floor.  With that we updated the reception area to make it more comfortable for parents and visitors.

The Cameron courtyard is also under a change as well.  FCPS Safety and Security office rated the barn as unsafe for students and recommended its removal.  For those who remember the chickens (and one rabbit) that once resided in the courtyard, I am happy to say that they have a new home on a farm in the Shenandoah area.  They are happily laying eggs and doing what chickens do in a more spacious area fit for farm animals.

The courtyard will be converted into an outdoor classroom this year.  Our hope is that students will help design the outdoor classroom for a unique learning environment for years to come.
