Dear Members of the W.T. Woodson Community:
Welcome to the W.T.Woodson 2017-2018 School Year!
This “WeMail” is the first Woodson Parent Teacher Student Organization’s
(PTSO) weekly email of the school year. Each week the WeMail may include
immediate opportunities or activities at the school, sports highlights, and
Booster/Club info, as well as information relevant to the upcoming week or
shortly thereafter. You do not have to be a member of the PTSO to receive the
weekly WeMail; it is sent via the school’s News You Choose system to everyone
who has signed up to receive it.

What's New?
1. All Night Grad
Party | Cav Cruise
Planning for the 2018 Woodson Cav Cruise, the very fun, alcohol-free,
chaperoned, all-night lock-in on graduation night, is underway! Cav Cruise
will take place on June 13 at Oak Marr Rec Center from 11pm until 5am.
-
As our major fundraiser, we are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes for donation to Funds2Orgs. The footwear collected provides an incredible economic boost by supporting micro-enterprises in developing nations like Haiti, Colombia, India, and Tanzania. Please read the flyer for more information, and PLEASE HELP US by donating your good condition shoes (no holes, please)! Drop off at Woodson Main Office in the bin marked "Cav Cruise Shoe Drive."
- We will be at Senior Night on Wednesday, September 6, collecting shoes, selling graduation yard signs, accepting registrations, and providing information about this event.
-
We are still looking for a few committee chairs to help with this event. We still need help with Publicity (to the students), the T-shirt Art Contest, making a video from yearbook and collected pictures, the Grad Seat Raffle, Decorations, and Shipbuilding. Several of these jobs are very easy and have very defined tasks and timeframes. There is much information from prior years. If interested, we’d love to have you.
Questions? Please contact Anne Akers-Smith, Meghan Tidwell, or Annette
Wagner at cavcruisedirector@woodsonptso.org.

6. WeMail
Our goal is to distribute
the weekly WeMail every Monday afternoon; if Monday is a holiday, expect to see
the WeMail the next school day. If you have information to include in a future
WeMail, please email your submissions to the WeMail Editor at woodsonWEMail@woodsonptso.org no later than 5pm on the Friday prior to the week you want
it published. If you have a flyer (often required for restaurant fundraisers),
please email you submission AND flyer to the WeMail Editor at woodsonWEMail@woodsonptso.org no later than 5pm on the Thursday prior to the week you
want it published. Click here for complete WeMail Submission
Guidelines.
7. Woodson Athletic Booster Membership
Woodson Athletic Booster Memberships are now on sale. Click here
to purchase passes online using PayPal or download a Membership form and mail
it and a check to the address listed on the form.
When you join the Woodson Athletic Boosters you receive passes to enter
all regular season home games/matches for the Cavaliers. Even though ticket
prices have increased, the cost of Booster memberships have remained unchanged
which makes joining the Boosters even more economic sense. The sooner you join,
the more you can save and the quicker you can help the Boosters support all
Woodson student-athletes.
Sports Highlights
Volleyball
On August 24, the Woodson Volleyball teams played against the
formidable James Madison high school. The freshman team won in 2 sets, 29-27
and 25-23. The JV team also won 25-10 and 25-22! The varsity team lost by the
slimmest of margins in 5 sets: 15-25, 25-16, 25-23, 16-25, and 17-19. Looks
like it is going to be a terrific season. Come out and support the Lady
Cavaliers at their first home game this week on August 30.
