Summer Updates

Olde Creek Families and Friends:

We hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer that has been filled with exciting adventures for you and your students. We can’t wait for them to return to Olde Creek at the end of the month.

Below is a list of some upcoming events and few reminders. Additional information about the start of school will be sent out in the coming weeks. Please feel free to contact the Olde Creek office with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Kindergarten Play Date Next Week – Tuesday, August 15

This is a reminder that we will have two Kindergarten Play Dates on Tuesday, August 15. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your rising kindergartener to meet other kindergarteners and have fun on the playground. We will meet on the Olde Creek playground from 10:00 – 10:45 and from 6:00 – 6:45. We hope that you can make it to one (or both!).

Kindergarten Orientation – Wednesday, August 23

This exciting adventure will start in our library and be followed by fun activities throughout the building. It will conclude with a mini-tour of the building and a ride on a school bus! All kindergarten students are welcome. We will meet in the Olde Creek library at 9:00 and the program should last approximately 45 minutes.

Open House – Thursday, August 24

The Olde Creek Open House for all K-6 students will be on Thursday, August 24 from 9:00 – 9:45.  This is a chance to meet your teacher and classmates, find your classroom, and drop off your school supplies.

First Day of School – Monday, August 28

The first day of school is Monday, August 28th. Please note that this is a week earlier than previous years! Bus schedules will be sent as soon as they are available in August.

New Neighbors?

If you know of a family that has moved into the Olde Creek boundary, or who has a student that is ready for Kindergarten, please encourage them to register their child for school as soon as possible! This can impact the number of teachers we have on staff. Registration appointments can be made by calling our main office at 703-426-3100.

Important Information for Rising 6th Graders

All students in Virginia must receive a booster dose of Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine prior to entering sixth grade. The Tdap booster can be obtained from your child’s healthcare provider. Sixth graders cannot begin school in August without documentation of having had the Tdap booster. Please contact our main office with any questions.
