Summer Reading Opportunities for Kings Glen Students and Rising 7th Requirements

Studies have found that reading for pleasure is beneficial for kids in many ways including keeping up their reading skills over the summer and helping them succeed in school.  Here are some of the opportunities that Kings Glen and the Fairfax County Public Library offer students to help them keep up with their reading. You can also find details here about the LBSS rising 7th grader summer reading assignment.

Pick Up Medications

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school (Friday, June 23).  Medication left in the health room after that time will be discarded.  It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.  Medication cannot be sent home with your child.

This June, we are participating in Project Aquarelle’s end-of-year collection. This is an organization—started by a West Springfield HS senior—that collects school supplies and redistributes them to students worldwide and locally.

Should you wish to contribute, there are collection boxes in our lobby; we encourage you to donate new or lightly used school supplies, backpacks, and even books! Boxes will be out until the conclusion of the school year.

In the past two years, Project Aquarelle has reached over 3,500 students. If you'd like to learn more about Project Aquarelle's mission of "Coloring the World with Education," visit their Facebook page here.
