2. Welcome
to Woodson New Student Program
Have
you ever been a new student or new family in a new school?
It
is very challenging and stressful. We want to help the new families and their
students transition smoothly into WT Woodson in 2017 – 2018. YOU CAN HELP US!! Please
volunteer as a “Welcoming Family.”
What
do you have to do?? When a new student and family arrive at FCPS (Woodson),
they will be paired with an existing family. The “Welcoming Family” will
contact the new family (via phone or e-mail) and answer any questions they
might have. It’s as simple as that.
You
might direct them to the appropriate sources for further information and tell
them about school events or activities that may be of interest. You don’t need
to be an expert. We will send you guidelines and information that you can use
to help the new families. You may even
want to meet them in person over an ice cream or coffee.
Please
volunteer to be a “Welcoming Family” via Sign Up Genius here. Having a new
friend before the school starts can make all the difference!
FYI,
information on the Welcome to Woodson programs is available at http://www.woodsonptso.org/welcome-to-woodson.html
