ALERT - Blue Whale Challenge

We wanted to bring your attention to a social media game called the Blue Whale Challenge to which some students might have been exposed.  The Blue Whale Challenge is also known as the Blue Whale suicide game.  It is an online game in which participants are reportedly assigned a curator who provides various acts of self-harm to be committed over the course of 50 days. On the final day, participants are urged to win the game by committing suicide.  If you hear kids talking about this game please discuss the dangers and inform his or her counselor at W.T. Woodson.  If your son/daughter is in crisis please reach out to the Crisis Link Hotline at 703-527-4077 or text them at 703-997-5444 or chat online with a specialist at CrisisChat.org or ImAlive.org or go to the nearest emergency room at your local hospital or call 911.

Update: The site has been removed by the owner however there are copy cat programs out there so please monitor Internet use closely.

Password Recovery For Students

The FCPS student account password, which includes Blackboard and the Google Suite, expires every 365 days. To ensure that students can recover their own passwords, FCPS has created a Password Recovery option that is similar to many online accounts. Students can enter either a phone number for a text or a personal email to receive a password reset message. Please be sure and enter the phone number or email of choice by clicking the button “Manage Your Recovery Options.”
