Lost and Found is
overflowing again! Please have your child
check for any lost belongings. You are
welcome to come to the school and check, too. The unclaimed ones will be
donated in early June.

some extra class pictures for sale in the office. The cost is $11 and
you can pay with cash or check (payable to Lifetouch)

Herndon Elementary SOL Schedule
The Virginia SOLs for next week are: 5th Gr. Math Day 1
on Monday, June 5th and 5th Gr. Math Day 2 and 5th
Advanced Math on Tuesday, June 6th. These tests give us
important information about the skills your student has mastered and where they
might need more assistance from us as a school. Parents, we ask you to
support your student during this time by making sure they get a good night’s
sleep the night before, a good breakfast the day of the test, and to avoid
scheduling appointments. Thank you so much!
During SOL testing, lunch times for students in grade 3-6
may change to accommodate grade levels who are testing on a particular day.
This lunch schedule will go through June 6th. Thank you!

Community Events and Camps
TOMORROW! STEMfest, presented by club LUMINOUS and Ideaventions Academy
sponsored by Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology, is for 5th-8th graders
and will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 10am-3pm at 12340 Pinecrest Road,
Reston, VA 20191. Lunch will be

This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the Remembrance
Cabaret for Reema Samaha, who is the daughter of HES teacher, Mona
Samaha. Reema will be honored with a true celebration of the
performing arts on Saturday, June 17th, 7:00pm at the Westfield High School
Auditorium, please mark your calendar and plan to attend and enjoy! The
admission is free but donations are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Reema J.
Samaha Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Angel Fund ~ angelfundva.net.
HES teachers, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Henry, are looking forward to
their upcoming summer camp with excitement and anticipation!! The HES PTA
sponsored 2017 P.E. & Art Summer Kickoff Camp will run Tuesday
through Friday, June 27-30, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. This is
the week after school ends. Registration
forms are in the HES main office.
Attention Rising 6th and 7th Graders:
Check Out Herndon High's Summer Grand 2017! Open to rising sixth graders through
2017 graduates, the Summer Grand 2017 is a performing arts camp that runs
July 5th-July 30th at Herndon High and that focuses on producing and performing
a major musical. There's work with acting, singing, dancing, set
construction, lighting, sound, hair, make-up, and more! This year, the
musical is Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka. Whether you like
performing on the big stage or working behind-the-scenes, this camp is the
