Register as soon as possible and select all of the time slots that will work with your schedule at http://tinyurl.com/17-18WTW-CC-Volunteer. Registration will close on 9 June. Registrants will be contacted before school ends.

Sports Highlights

Boys Soccer

The Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted the Patriot Pioneers to begin the Regional play-offs. The Pioneers scored the first goal. On two occasions it was Eli Smolen's quick reflexes that kept the ball out of the net. Ryan Dagley turned the defenders’ ankles to score the Cavalier equalizing goal. At the whistle of regulation time, the game was drawn at 1-1. The game remained stalemated through most of extra time. However, in a moment of heartbreak, the Pioneers ended the Cavaliers’ season. A final congratulations to the Seniors: Sam Behan (Longwood University), Ryan Dagley (University of the District of Columbia), Luis Gutierrez (University of Texas), Max Herz (Ohio State University), Brandon Metzler (James Madison University), Matt Parker (Christopher Newport University), Sam Reeves (University of South Carolina), Dylan Robey (Christopher Newport University), and Nate Rummel (James Madison University). You made us proud. All the best in the future!

Crew

WTW Crew competed well against the best competition on the East Coast at the fabled Stotesbury Regatta in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday! Women’s 1st Varsity 8+ placed 13th in timetrials and advanced to the Semi-Finals, finishing third out of all Virginia entries! Congrats Hannah Fisher, Claire Hutcheson, Gabriella Hayes, Elizabeth Giglia, Jenna Hissong, Rowan Sprouse, Rose van der Horst, Brooke Leech, Erica Schneider (coxswain). Women’s Lightweight 8+ placed 7th in timetrials and missed Finals by only 0.7 seconds. Men’s 1st Varsity 8+ placed 24th out of 41 in timetrials ahead of Oakton, TJ, Robinson, Fairfax, Yorktown, and West Springfield. Men’s 2nd Varsity 8+ placed 17th out of 28 in timetrials ahead of Oakton, Langley, TJ, Robinson, and Fairfax. Women’s 1st Varsity 4+ placed 48th out of 60 in timetrials. Men’s Lightweight 4+ placed 28th out of 35 in timetrials. Women’s Junior 8+ placed 36th out of 50 in timetrials. Men’s Junior 8+ placed 34th out of 54 in timetrials. We are very proud of WTW’s effort -- and note the Novice Men & Women who “rowed up” in Junior 8+ events against more experienced competition. Next week, WTW Crew competes at the SRAA Nationals Regatta in New Jersey!

Thanks to our Boosters: Debbie Dogrul Associates, Elevation Burger, Wisley Greco & Assoc, The Meat House, S&T Title.
