June 2, 2017
Dear Willow Springs Families,
Happy June! It sure does feel like summer around here, and we have much to celebrate.
Last Thursday, May 25th, the Fox Ensemble performed the Star-Spangled Banner for the FCPS School Board Meeting at Luther Jackson Middle School. Please join them this Saturday, June 3rd at 1:15 p.m. as they perform at SpringFest in Fair Lakes.
We are so thankful for our amazing PTA support, and all of the support we receive on a daily basis. An awesome volunteer appreciation lunch was held at the Villagio earlier today, it was great to see so many there! We are quite the team!
Please be sure to join us at Bagel Buddies this Sunday, as a portion of the proceeds will be given back tour PTA to help support our students and teachers. See you there!
Have a wonderful, warm, weekend!

Education. SOL tests measure the extent to which students have learned
the content and skills specified in the Virginia SOLs. In order to assist
your spring planning, the SOL schedule is listed below. Please avoid appointments that will take your child out of school during

6th Grade Service Project
June 1 - June 22
Each year sixth grader students participate in a service
project as part of their end of year activities. For the past several years, students have
collected non-perishable food items for the Western Fairfax Christian Ministry
(WFCM) food pantry. WFCM provides food
for families in need who live in the western portion of Fairfax County. It is ‘client choice’ meaning clients make
their own food selections during their monthly visit. All sixth grade classrooms set their own goal
of over 100 food items per class.
The pantry has identified a specific need for “Kid Foods”
such as pop top Ravioli, macaroni & cheese, fruit cups, snacks,
treats, milk or juice containers. Other
items needed are canned meat, Ramen noodles, cereal, etc. But, they gladly accept all non-perishable
items.

Our school is extremely fortunate to have YOU - our
wonderful corps of volunteers! Sharing
your time and talents is truly invaluable to our school. Our volunteers bring their skills,
inspiration, vision, and a wealth of experience and leadership. The “extras” can only be done with your giving
hands. It’s hard to find the words to
express our sincere appreciation for all you do! You are simply the BEST!
The following 10 volunteers have been selected from a
random drawing to receive a $10.00 gift card as a small token of
appreciation: Mi Youn * Laura Buice *

Support Valerie Nguyen
Join a 2 mile run or 1 mile Family Fun Run June 10, 2017 from
8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. All the proceeds raised by this event will benefit Special Love.
My name is Valerie Nguyen and I am currently a junior at
Centerville High School. I am reaching out to you on behalf
of my club, Wildcats vs Cancer Club and Centreville High School. This is a very personal cause to me
because my sister Cecilia Nguyen, at the age of 13 (a past student of Willow
Springs Elementary and Rocky Run Middle school) passed away because of
osteosarcoma (a form of childhood cancer) this past October 11th, 2016.
Kindergarten Registration is Open
