Wolverine
Community,
What
a busy two weeks of Advanced Placement Testing it has been! I want to
congratulate all of our 725 Wolverines who sat for 1656 exams. With your
dedication to academics along with the great instruction in classrooms I know
you all did your best! My sincere thanks to our AP Testing Coordinator
Ms. Adya Meeks for her leadership as well as our school counselors and parent
volunteers who covered proctoring responsibilities.
While
AP testing slows down, our SOL testing will begin next week. If you
haven’t already reviewed, one last reminder that our testing calendar is
available on our school website. Please know that earlier this week each
student received a personalized SOL schedule via their third period
teacher. This letter had the date, time, and place for each of their
scheduled SOLs. I encourage you to review your child’s schedule, and do
all that you can to avoid any appointments on test dates. In addition, a
good night’s sleep, a good breakfast, and arriving on time the morning of
testing will help ensure your child is ready to give his/her best on the
SOL. Finally, your help in reminding your child that they should not
bring any electronic devices (cell phone, smart watch etc.) to their testing
location is greatly appreciated. My thanks to Russ Easter, our Assessment
Coach, for his many efforts to ensure our entire school, both students and staff,
are ready for a great Spring SOL Testing window.
While
it would be difficult to highlight all the great events happening this time of
year I do want to share that we are thrilled to welcome Senator Tim Kaine to
West Potomac on Monday as he tours our Governors Health Sciences
Academy. West Potomac offers a wide variety of courses that include top
quality instruction and we are excited to showcase some of those programs for
the Senator.
Finally,
I hope you have had a chance to see some of our Teacher Appreciation Week
Celebrations via our West Potomac twitter @theWPBoard. Over the last few
months at West Potomac, I am consistently impressed at the high quality
instruction in classrooms. My thanks to the PTSA and our SGA for joining
the Administrative Team in celebrating our Wolverine Teachers throughout the
week.
Wishing
you a relaxing and hopefully mostly dry weekend!

Princess for a Night Coming to West
Potomac
Princess for a Night is a program
where prom dresses and accessories are collected from women in the community
and then given to high school students for free. This year at West
Potomac, our event will be held on May 20 and 22. We are collecting formal dresses (long or
short), shoes, handbags, jewelry, and unused make-up (for example, sample
cosmetics) through Friday, May 19. Dresses should be prom-appropriate
and free of dirt or tears. Donations can be brought to the West Potomac
front office. For further information or to volunteer to help at this
event, please contact Amy Bowman at rpbowman@verizon.net.

volunteers to help with this year’s program. Volunteers are especially needed
to help set up the dress shop on Friday, May 19, starting after school, and to break down the

volunteers will help girls with dress and accessory selection, keep the shop
tidy, and help with check-out. Please click here to
