Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families:

Thank you for supporting our Curriculum Night last Thursday evening!  It was great to have so many parents and children here to enjoy and participate in the instructional events that our fabulous staff planned.  Our kindergarten musical was a hit, as per usual!  Thanks also to your PTA for a great 5K and Fun Run on Sunday.

It is with mixed emotions that I share that Carrie Powers, our school counselor, will be retiring after this school year.  Mrs. Powers has served the Stenwood community for 33 years, first as a teacher and then as a counselor!  It is not uncommon for a student, upon meeting Mrs. Powers, to say, “My mother said you were her teacher when she was at Stenwood!”  Mrs. Powers has impacted the lives of thousands of children and has served several generations of Stenwood families.  Though we will miss Mrs. Powers, her retirement is well deserved, and we are very happy for her next chapter in life.  Please mark your calendar for June 7th at 4:00-5:00 p.m. when we will host a gathering for those who would like to stop by to bid farewell to Mrs. Powers.  Please feel free to bring your children, both current and former Stingers, to join you.  This gathering is not a drop-off event, but meant to be shared between parent and child.  If you are able to attend, please RSVP, with the number of attendees to Kristen Snyder at kgsnyder@fcps.edu by May 17th.  If you are unable to make it, I’m sure Mrs. Powers would enjoy a note of appreciation from your child and you.

Sincerely,
Principal Dammeyer
