In the Spotlight: Dan Noll, STEM Engineering Teacher at South Lakes High School
Hidden in the basement of South Lakes High School is Dan Noll's workroom. Noll teaches between seven and nine courses each year as part of South Lakes' well-loved Career and Technical Education program. He is also a South Lakes graduate.
In Noll's STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Engineering class, innovation, creativity, and a can-do attitude are supported. His classes are entirely project based. Once available tools and task specifics have been introduced, students work collaboratively to create their own approach to solving the problem. There is an electric air of engagement and ownership in the classroom.

Student Wellness Tips and Strategies: How to Handle Peer Pressure
Everyone has peers. Peers can be your friends who are about your age and have similar interests and experiences. Peers can also be other kids who are about your age and are involved in the same activities with you or are part of a community or group you belong to.
Peer pressure can be positive or negative. When peer pressure is positive, it pushes you to be your best. Negative peer pressure is when someone who is a friend or part of a group you belong to makes you feel that you have to do something to be accepted. It’s the negative peer pressure that we usually think of when the phrase peer pressure is used. When you give in to negative peer pressure, you often feel guilty or disappointed with yourself for acting in a way that goes against your beliefs or values.
Learn strategies that can help you handle negative peer pressure.

Arts Alive: Cappies Review of TJHSST’s Production of Les Misérables
Fairfax County Public Schools offers a rich theater curriculum, especially at the high school level. Many FCPS high schools participate in the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Critics and Awards Program for High School Theatre, otherwise known as the Cappies.
The Cappies is a program through which high school theater and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers. There are fifteen Cappies chapters across the United States and Canada.
