Greetings,
In
addition to my upcoming office hours next week, I wanted to share with you a free documentary event at Woodson High School about teens and digital screen usage, as well as a request to serve
on the math textbook adoption committee.
As always if I can be of any assistance to you and your family, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Wednesday, April 5th, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Woodson High School 9525 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031
The
Woodson PTSO and Community of Solutions invite Parents AND Students (recommended for ages
10+) and interested community members to our presentation of the
documentary, Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age. Screenagers is a
documentary about one of the biggest parenting issues of our time. Are you
watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a
six-second attention span? Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories,
along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain
scientists, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and
offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the
digital world to find balance.
Please join me Friday, April 7, 2017 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. during my community office hours in the Kings Park Library meeting room. Our round-table discussion will focus on the budget, superintendent search, student stress and homework load. No RSVP is necessary.
Friday, April 7, 2017 | 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Each School Board Member will be appointing a citizen from their district to serve on the Mathematics Basal Instructional Materials Adoption Committee. Therefore, I invite interested parents to email their resume and a brief statement on why you would like to serve on this committee to me and my assistant Cheryl Austin. This Committee will review textbooks and other instructional materials for K-12 math courses. The committee will meet Mondays: July 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2017 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
