Local Level IV Coming to HMES

Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Local Level IV classes will begin in third & fourth grade at Hollin Meadows in the 2017-18 school year. Each year the program will move in to the subsequent grade level. This Advanced Academic Program provides a continuum of advanced academic services for students beginning in kindergarten. The highest level of service is the level IV full-time program which begins in third grade. Students found eligible for placement in a full-time Advanced Academic Program (Level IV) receive a highly challenging instructional program in the four core subject areas. The Level IV program is designed to meet the needs of advanced learners with a strong emphasis on higher level thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. We are looking forward to offering the Local Level IV Program at Hollin Meadows next year!

Hollin Meadows annual rising kindergarten orientation will be held on Wednesday, April 19 from 9:45 – 11 a.m. The program is intended for parents AND children who will be 5 on or before Sept. 30, 2017. If you plan to attend please RSVP to 703.718.8300.

Earth Day

Earth Day Celebration 2017

By now you have certainly noticed the earth movers and construction fences surrounding Hollin Meadows Elementary School.Unfortunately these changes will keep us out of our gardens for a couple of years. So this year, HM’s 12th Annual Earth Day will be "on the road." We're heading to our student’s future high school, West Potomac, to help with their very first Earth Day celebration and to learn how changes at HMES could yield a bigger, better garden once construction is complete.

When: April 22 @ 11 a..m. Caravan - departing from HMES parking lot at 10:30 a.m.(or meet by the WPHS rock)

Where: West Potomac HS, 6500 Quander Rd

What to Wear: Your HM gear! Show your school spirit!

The HMES gardens will be back in action before we know it...2019 is just around the corner!

Missing a Jacket or Sweater? Check the Lost & Found

Our Lost & Found rack by the gym is overflowing with jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts and pullovers. Please stop by to see if you recognize something that belongs to you. As a reminder, please label your child's belongings, especially coats and lunch boxes. If we see a name, we can get it back to the  owner.

PTA News

NOVA PTA Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations to Eileen Gorman, Hollin Meadows' PTA volunteer extraordinaire, on recently being selected as the Northern Virginia District PTA Elementary School Volunteer of the Year! While most volunteers are willing to step up when asked, Eileen never has to be asked. When she sees a problem or opportunity to strengthen the school and community, she takes the initiative by coming up with a creative solution, and then makes it happen. Thank you Eileen for giving so selflessly of your time and talent to help us achieve our goals. Your recognition is well deserved!
