We have special guests that will be attending such as Robert's family, former principal Lisa Barrow, our business partner Long and Foster and Sleepy Hollow staff members.

Math Through Pennies for Patients

pennies

In math, students are continuing to solve a variety of open-ended tasks, using a variety of strategies. Students are working on communicating their mathematical ideas during daily number talks and as they work with peers to solve real-world problems.

We are currently hosting a fundraiser for Pennies for Patients, where students and teachers are bringing in any loose change or dollar bills to help cure cancer. Many classrooms have incorporated this fundraiser into their math blocks as they are having students count the money during math stations. As a school we have already collected over $800! Amazing! Our goal is to reach $1,500 by April 7 and at this rate we should be hitting our goal in no time!

Music in our Schools Month

In celebration of our Music Madness activity, 5th graders are dressing up as their favorite artist or genre today. This is just one of many activities students have been involved in this March to celebrate Music.

As we are closing out Music In Our Schools month, I wanted to take the time to thank you for your support of the arts in our schools.  I truly feel like the Fine Arts are valued at SHES (and FCPS) and am so thankful your children have the opportunity to explore these subjects!
