2017-18 Kindergarten Registration

Will your child turn five years old by September 30? If so, contact your child’s school to make arrangements for kindergarten enrollment. Most schools begin getting information together in late March or early April for parents of incoming kindergartners, and many host an orientation or open house. All kindergarten programs are full-day and located in FCPS elementary schools.

Check your school’s webpage or contact the school directly for specific enrollment information and dates of orientation that typically occur between mid-March and the end of June.

Taeloire

In the Spotlight: Ravensworth Elementary Student’s Quick Thinking Saves Family

Ravensworth Elementary student Taeloire knows how important it is to listen in class. So when the Fairfax County Fire Department visited with some fire safety lessons, Taeloire not only paid attention, he remembered what he was taught.

When an accidental fire started in his house, Taeloire immediately alerted his mother and made sure she and his baby brother got out of the house safely. His quick response helped to save the lives of his family.

Donate to the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools

The Foundation for FCPS is the independent 501(c)3 charitable organization supporting the school system. We work alongside teachers, principals, administrators, and FCPS leadership to keep the school system robust and innovative through three focus areas: Future Workforce and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math); Employee Recognition; and Kids in Need. Foundation funding supports specific programs: the expansion of cyber IT courses in high schools and creation of Cyber Patriot clubs in all middle schools; the FCPS Honors event in June which recognizes excellence among our teachers, support staff, and administrators; and a fund to help students in need, specifically by providing them with school supply kits prior to the start of school. More information can be found on the Foundation website.

Your tax-deductible contribution can be made online, and may be designated to an existing initiative, or to the school or center of your choice. If you prefer, you may call the Foundation office for more information, or contribute over the phone by calling 571-423-1031.
