Hello McNair Families,
I am
very excited to share with all of you that this past Saturday the McNair Science Bowl Team participated in the Virginia State Regional Science Bowl at the Jefferson Lab in Newport News.
This is the 2nd year of participation for McNair.
20 teams (18 middle and two elementary schools) across Virginia participated, and McNair team took 4th place!

Cost: $5 Adults and $3 students/children

School Wide Reward: Board Game Day –Wednesday, March
15th
Our Mustangs have earned their next school wide reward by earning over 5,000 hoof tickets for showing respect to myself, others, and property! Students have earned board game day on Wednesday, March 15th! Students are allowed to bring in a board game from home to play with their classmates (no electronic device games). Students will be responsible for their game and must have parent permission to bring in their selected game. Students will have a board game time during the day chosen by their teacher.
Pi Night
This is just a reminder that Pi Night is this upcoming Tuesday, March 14th from 6:00-8:00pm. We will be hosting our 6th annual Pi Night! PI stands for Parent Involvement and this year the night will focus on math activities. We invite students and families to learn about math with a variety of games/ activities to participate in. Only McNair students will receive a sheet to collect a sticker at each station. Earn eight stickers and you’ll receive a slice of pizza! We look forward to seeing you all!
March Parent Coffee Talk
This month's Parent Coffee Talk will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at 9:00 a.m. in our cafeteria. Ms. Dailly, Ms. Hoppel, and Ms. Mannon, our ESOL team, will share instructional strategies to utilize to support the needs of children who speak multiple languages or for students still acquiring the English language. The strategies they share about can be applied to all students, so please feel free to join us even if your child is not an ESOL learner.
Dismissal Reminder
If your child is a walker, please ensure that you remind them to come home and check-in with you or another adult in charge before going outside to play. We have many students who enjoy playing outside on the McNair campus or outside in neighboring communities without checking in at home first.
Pennies for Patients
In our final week of collecting change for the SCA community service project, the Pennies for Patients program, we raised a total of $9,283.55! I could not be more proud of your generosity, Mustangs!

being accepted. This is an opportunity for you to nominate someone or
volunteer yourself. If you would like to be part of a fun, creative and
committed team of parents and teachers making a direct impact on McNair ES,

Spring Clubs
Spring Clubs will run 2 weeks longer (9 or 10 weeks sessions) per the parent request. PTA members will get first priority and discounted prices. Spring clubs will start on March 27th and will run until June 9th. Rescheduled: Save the Date: Bingo Night is Friday, April 21st from 6:30-8:00PM
The PTA is looking for many volunteers to help with Bingo Night and Bingo prize items. This year, Bingo prizes will also include new gift items, a variety of $5 gift cards to various stores or restaurants, or a one-time pass for a "Kids Place". Please do not donate any used items. You may submit gift cards & passes in an envelope labeled, "PTA Bingo Night" with the teacher's name on it to the main office. The teacher's class that submits the most usable gifts will receive a hot chocolate & cookie party!
