New Traffic Pattern – Starts TOMORROW!

traffic pattern

Since the 2012 school year, the Fairfax County Police Department has recorded 41 vehicle crashes on Sutton Rd., along the school boundary extending to Blake Lane. Most recently, an increasing number of these accidents is occurring at the campus exit onto Sutton Road., at Blake Lane. Drivers attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Sutton Rd.at this location, particularly at dismissal times, must contend with both an increased volume and flow of traffic and a limited line of sight for observation of oncoming traffic. In order to reduce the number of crashes at this exit, effective February 7, 2017, right turns only will be permitted. Posted signage and orange Traffic Safety barrels will be installed to prohibit left turns. Drivers seeking to proceed north on Sutton Road, will need to travel around the rear of the school and exit at the 4-way stop intersection.

Grade Level Curriculum Meetings

School counselors will meet with students in large groups to present critical information about course offerings, sequencing, prerequisites for specific courses, and graduation requirements. Meetings will take place at the following times:

  • Rising 11th grade:  February 7-8 (in World History 2)
  • Rising 12th grade:   January 23-24 (in US/VA History)

Academic Advising Meetings (Individual)

School counselors will meet individually with their assigned students to assist with course selection.  During these meetings, the students will confirm their course requests, and they will be given a copy of the courses they have selected.  Individual academic advising conferences are scheduled as follows:

  • Rising 10th grade:  February 24 - March 3 (through PE 9 classes)
  • Rising 11th grade:  February 9 - February 17 (through PE 10 classes)
