Parent Information Night:  Navigating the Emotional Rollercoaster of the Teen Years

Date:  October 12, 2016     Time: 7:00PM

Location:  Robinson Secondary School Room 406 (Next to Recital Hall)

*the middle and high school videos differ slightly and parents will be split into 2 rooms after an initial group presentation; room 405 will be used for this purpose.

Navigating the Emotional Rollercoaster of the Teen Years

Teens are particularly vulnerable to a roller coaster of emotions during adolescence because of major brain changes taking place between the ages of 12 and 25. These emotional ups and downs are all part of normal teen development.  For parents, it can be a frustrating and confusing time.  Is my teen moody, is it depression, or something more serious?  What do I do if I need more information or help?

Each year the Robinson Counseling staff conducts a Depression Screening with 7th through 11th graders(*details provided in a separate KIT message, including Opt-Out procedures).  Parents are invited to attend an evening presentation to meet members of the Robinson Counseling team, attend a presentation on teen behaviors and depression, and view the video and assessment presented to the students.  The Parent Information Night begins immediately following the regularly scheduled PTSA Board meeting; this is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend.

Round Robinson 5K to Benefit Rowers and Veterans

On Sunday, November 13, Robinson Crew Booster Club (RCBC) will host its 19th annual Round Robinson 5K. Race proceeds will help fund the Robinson Crew Athletic Program and a portion will be donated to Special Operations Warrior Foundation.   This year, the annual race falls on the weekend following Veteran’s Day, so RCBC wanted to give back to the community by making a donation to those who have served our country.
