- Ally Skalecky who is starting her first year of teaching at RVES in 1st grade after completing her student teaching in FCPS.

- Jenna Parkhurst, our new half-time counselor. She has been a counselor in FCPS for 8 years.
- Katie Oosterink, our new kindergarten teacher. She comes to us from Indiana after serving for 5 years as a kindergarten teacher there.

Here are some Reminders
Items Left Behind: If your child did not come to school on the last day, and left behind school items, they will be in the front office. This includes report cards.
Summer Hours: The office will be open 9:00-2:00 each day WITHOUT an appointment. If you need to come by at other times, please call ahead to make sure someone is available.
Advanced Academics: Eligibility letters for level 2 and 3 Advanced Academic Placement at Rolling Valley will be sent home at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year. If you have any questions contact the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher Christina Haramis at cfharamis@fcps.edu
Book your Summer: Summer is a time to rest, play…and read! This year, FCPS has
introduced a new and exciting summer reading program called, “Book Your
Summer.” Book Your Summer runs June 27 –
September 7 and offers a variety of ways for your child to participate in
summer reading, from reading different styles of books to visiting the library
or drawing a picture of something they’ve read about. Each student who completes and submits a READ!
Card online will be entered into a drawing at their school for $50 worth of
books or a laptop computer of their own. For more information on how to
participate and details of the program, go to www.fcps.edu/isbook. The cards were sent home in the Friday folder a few weeks ago.
Summer Library Opening: On Tuesday, July 26th, the
Rolling Valley school library will be open for book check-out from 6:30pm -
8:00pm. Come by, say hello, and check out some books. This is for NEW
families and current RVES families.
Beginning of Year Dates:
Kindergarten Popsicles with the Principals: Tuesday, August 2nd at 3:30 on the playground
Class placement letters are mailed (barring any
unforeseen troubles) - Friday, August 26th
New Family Picnic and Orientation: Tuesday,
August 30th
- Orientation and picnic for parents of students in grades 1st-6th that are NEW
to Rolling Valley (4:15 check-in/arrival, 4:30 event start, 5:00 picnic).
Please bring something to sit on for the picnic. Rolling Valley
will provide pizza, water, and dessert.
Open House: Thursday, September 1st - 3:00-4:00 - school supply
drop off, open house, and meet the teacher event.
First Day of School - Tuesday, September 6th at
9:15 (school hours are the same - 9:15-3:55)
Back to School Night: Thursday, September 8th
