Final Exam Schedule
We are
fast approaching the last day of school! You can access the final exam schedule
on our website.
Important End of
Year Senior Information
Monday,
June 20 -
Baccalaureate Program, sponsored by the PTSA at 7:00 p.m. in the OHS
Auditorium. All senior students and their families are invited.
Tuesday,
June 21 -
Graduation at 2:00 p.m. at the EagleBank Arena (formerly Patriot Center).
No tickets are required. Please contact Pam Burke at paburke@fcps.edu if you would like an ASL
interpreter for graduation.
Tuesday,
June 21 -
ANG Celebration sponsored by the PTSA at 10:00 p.m. at Oakton HS. Please
go to www.Oaktonhsptsa.org for more
information including ticket information and volunteer information. Many
volunteers are needed to make this a successful and safe event for our
graduates!
Please
have your student check the list outside the Gold Office for any outstanding
obligations. Senior students must clear all financial obligations
including junior class dues - $30, senior class dues -$70, class fees, library
obligations, parking tickets and lost and damaged textbooks before graduation
rehearsal on Wednesday, June 15. Caps and gowns will not be distributed
to students who have outstanding obligations at graduation rehearsal. If
you did not get your cap and gown at graduation rehearsal, students may take
care of their obligations in the Gold Office and may pick up their cap and gown
at that time.
Attendance May
2 – June 7 – no morning phone out
During AP,
IB and SOL testing at high schools from May 2, 2016 through June 7,
2016 the morning attendance telephone calls, texts and e-mails to home for
reporting a student’s absence will not occur. This temporary suspension
reflects the fact that students are often in designated testing sites within
the school during the normal attendance-taking time. The evening attendance
telephone calls and e-mails will still remain in place.
Oakton Crest
Parking
The Oakton Crest neighborhood is a small community
of 18 homes located next to Oakton High School off Blake Lane. It is
comprised of 18 homes on one dead end street, Oakton Crest Place. Residents
are asking that we assist in encouraging our parents, as part of a good
neighbor policy, not to park on the street waiting to pick up students. The
parked vehicles are regularly blocking deliveries, trash removal and residents
attempting to enter the community. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
OHS Color Guard
Recruitment
Oakton HS
Color Guard is now recruiting for the upcoming fall season! We need rising 9th
and 10th graders to join this amazing group of performers and athletes. Color
Guard is a fabulous activity that requires no previous experience, builds
character, and looks great on college applications. We have a wonderful team
that welcomes and nurtures newcomers, so please encourage your kids to join.
