The Weekly Roar - Wednesday, May 25, 2016

May 25, 2016

Good afternoon, Lane parents & guardians!

Can you believe it? We actually saw the sun today for a second consecutive day! Our students were delighted to get to have recess outside for two days in a row!

We are delighted that our spring testing is going along so smoothly. We are nearly half way through with this required process, and we appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we work our way through the remaining test days.

The most important reminder we have this week is about the coming weekend: it will be a long one, as we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30th. School, the office, and SACC will be CLOSED that day.

This is our last Weekly Roar for May, as June begins next Wednesday. As we wind down this school year and look ahead to the next, we’d like to let you know about a small but important change coming this fall: Our school hours will be changing slightly next year, moving up 5 minutes to a 9:20 a.m. start. Dismissal will also move forward 5 minutes to 4:05 p.m. each day. Please make a note of this change and factor it into your arrival and dismissal plans for next year as you make them in the coming months.

Enjoy the long holiday weekend, and the sunshine!

SCA Talent Show – Monday, June 20th, 2:30 p.m.; Applications Due Wednesday, June 1st!

The second annual Lane SCA Talent Show will be held Monday, June 20th, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. All students are invited to audition for the show. All acts (including music, dance, poetry, etc.) must be school- and age-appropriate, even for the youngest audience members, and each student can only audition one act. Your form (permission slip) must be turned in by next Wednesday, June 1st, in order to audition. Late forms WILL NOT be accepted.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast – Wednesday, June 15th, 8:30 a.m.

Lane would not be what it is without all of its great volunteers! To thank you all for all that you’ve done over this past year, we will hold a special Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, June 15th, at 8:30 a.m. in the Library. Children will be supervised in the Gym from 8:30 to 9 a.m. so their parents may enjoy the breakfast without distraction.

All volunteers who’ve helped us out this year – at school, at home, through the PTA – are invited to attend. If you’re planning to join us, please fill out the online RSVP form at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1moDijFuZFMaz21avhdG37P158sSQPEGi5_Wi6MWtc1s to let us know. This will help ensure we have enough food and service items.

Thank you again for your generous support of our school, its staff, and its students!
