Attendance May 2 – June 7

During AP, IB and SOL testing at high schools from May 2, 2016 through June 7, 2016 the morning attendance telephone calls, texts and e-mails to home for reporting a student’s absence will not occur. This temporary suspension reflects the fact that students are often in designated testing sites within the school during the normal attendance-taking time. The evening attendance telephone calls and e-mails will still remain in place.

AP Testing is Underway!

AP Testing Schedule: http://www.fcps.edu/OaktonHS/forms/testing/AP%20testing%20schedule%202016.pdf

AP Testing Frequently Asked Questions: http://www.fcps.edu/OaktonHS/testing_ap.html

**Students are reminded the only materials that can be brought into the testing room are several pens and non-mechanical pencils and a calculator if applicable. Everything else, including cell phones, smartwatches, water bottles, backpacks, pencil cases, and tissues, needs to be left in a locker or at home. You cannot bring backpacks into the rooms! We do not have space for them in any testing location.**

Students should arrive by 7:45 for morning exams and 11:45 for afternoon exams. Late arrivals will not be allowed to test. Traffic is not an excuse for missing a test! If you are very sick on the day of the test and cannot make it in, you must email acalvello@fcps.edu and myrodeheaver@fcps.edu the day of your exam.

Many of the afternoon exams will run to 4 pm. Students should have alternate transportation home if they have an afternoon test. Teachers should be communicating with students about the length for specific exams.

SOL Testing

Next Wednesday, we start SOL testing. Later this week, students will get letters from one of their teachers regarding the location of each of their exams.

Please note that our bell schedule is modified for some of the test days; the full schedule can be found on our website.

If a student misses an SOL test, then he/she should plan to attend one of the makeup dates: May 31 for English and social studies, and June 1 for math or science.

If you have any questions about SOL testing, you can email Martha Rodeheaver at myrodeheaver@fcps.edu.

Tutoring in the Cafeteria!

The Center will be tutoring in the cafeteria during all Cougar Times and after-school Wednesdays for the month of May while the Library and other locations are closed for testing.
