After 20 years of collaboration with DRPT, the Town of Blacksburg celebrated the grand opening of its new multimodal transit facility! 2025 Virginia State Bus Roadeo
It might not be your first rodeo, but it could have been your first roadeo — that’s road-eo, as in buses, cones, and serious driving skills! Jayla Parker and Avery Daugherty hit the pavement for the 2025 Virginia State Bus Roadeo in Fairfax, VA—a two-day showdown where transit agencies from across the Commonwealth competed in operator and driver events to show off their skills and crown the best of the best.
Next year, we’re going all in on the Western flair—boots, hats, and all!
Fun fact: Roadeos take place all over Virginia year-round, and some events—like the driving competitions—are open to the public. Yeehaw!

Career Days
Linda Balderson and Jordan Chapman went back to school this spring for a doubleheader of career days. Linda spoke with curious students at Sandston Elementary about DRPT’s work, while Jordan held things down at Glen Lea Elementary. The students there weren’t totally convinced when she tried to pass off Virginia Breeze luggage tags as skibidi rizz backpack swag—but hey, A for effort.

Several DRPT team members were also on hand to support the event and host a table, sharing helpful resources and information with attendees.
