Virginia Breeze Relocates Stop in Staunton, Improving Connectivity
The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation is pleased to announce that its Virginia Breeze Bus Lines will be relocating its Staunton stop to the Staunton Crossing VDOT Park and Ride project at 210 Crossing Way, Staunton, VA. This move is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to enhance the overall travel experience and meet the evolving needs of its customers.
The decision to relocate the Virginia Breeze stop from its current location in the Martin's parking lot to the new park and ride was driven by the project's strategic advantages. Situated right off Interstate 81, the Staunton Crossing VDOT Park and Ride offers a convenient and easily accessible location for travelers. With nearly 1,700 Virginia Breeze riders arriving and departing from Staunton in 2024 alone, the relocation will better accommodate the needs of the growing number of passengers. Additionally, the project includes shelters and amenities that will be shared with the Afton Express, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience for all. BRITE, another local transit service, will also be integrated at this stop at a later time.
One of the key highlights of the project is the provision of 100 parking spots. This will not only cater to the needs of Virginia Breeze passengers but also offer a convenient parking solution for commuters utilizing the local public transit service.
"We are delighted to move our Staunton stop to the Staunton Crossing VDOT Park and Ride," said Zach Trogdon, Acting Director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. "This move will significantly improve connectivity for our passengers, allowing them to easily access the Afton Express."
The Virginia Breeze's relocation to the Staunton Crossing VDOT Park and Ride will take effect on September 3rd, 2024.
