The Virginia Family’s Guide to Special Education One-Pager Resources Now Available

The Virginia Department of Education has created five new one-pager documents to accompany The Virginia Family’s Guide to Special Education. These resources are meant to assist families with understanding five components of special education regulations and processes, including:

• Determination of Eligibility
• Procedural Safeguards
• Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)
• School Discipline and Students with Disabilities
• Manifestation Determination Review

Listserv for Parents and Professionals Working with Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

The Technical Assistance Center for Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is funded by the VDOE to provide training and technical assistance in the area of deafness and hearing loss. The TAC-DHH Project at the Partnership for People with Disabilities at VCU maintains a listserv for parents and professionals working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Stronger Together: Fostering Connections in Our Autism Community

Every child has something to say! Register for the VCU Autism Center for Excellence session: Building and Supporting Communication Skills.
