Child Care Centers and Family Day Homes
Child Care Financing Program – No Interest, Low-Cost Loans Available
The Virginia Small Business Financing Authority provides low-cost loans to eligible programs to enhance early learning environments, support curriculum, acquire technology/software, upgrade playgrounds, and more. Effective July 1, the maximum Child Care Financing Program loan eligibility for Family Day Homes has been increased to $25,000, repayable over seven years. Additionally, Child Care Centers may apply for a loan of $150,000, repayable over seven years or a $250,000 loan, repayable over ten years. Please contact Karen White, Regional Lending Manager for more information about loan eligibility.
OCCHS Child Care Provider Seasonal Updates Webinar Recording
The Office of Child Care Health and Safety (OCCHS) Child Care Provider Seasonal Updates webinar hosted on July 16 is now available on the VDOE’s child care website. The recording is found on the website under “Videos and Recordings.” Access the recording today to learn about recent developments and expected future advancements that impact child day programs and family day systems.
OCCHS Virginia Preservice Training Feedback Survey
The Office of Child Care Health and Safety (OCCHS) hosted a listening session on July 16 in the Northern/Fairfax region, to join in conversation with early childhood professionals and provide the opportunity to share feedback on the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. If you were unable to attend and would like to provide feedback on the training, the Preservice survey is now available. Refer to the July 9 memo for additional listening session opportunities in the coming months.

Virginia Preschool Initiative
VPI New Coordinator Webinar on August 8
The VDOE will host a training for VPI Coordinators new to their position for the 2024-2025 school year. Reporting timelines and other annual requirements will be reviewed. This session will be recorded and sent to all registered participants as well as posted to the VPI website after completion. Registration is required.

Early Childhood Special Education
Fundamentals of Early Childhood Special Education Administration
This three-part webinar series is intended for new ECSE administrators, new special education directors, or those who would like a refresh on topics related to ECSE administration. The series will provide an overview of Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education programs; VDOE guidance regarding inclusive practices; an overview of ECSE indicator data (indicators 6, 7, and 12); and Virginia Quality Birth through Five (VQB5). Participants are encouraged to attend each session.
Improving Inclusive Practices & Outcomes for Preschoolers (IPOP): Technical Assistance Opportunity
As we approach a new school year, now is a great time to consider the various technical assistance opportunities provided by the VDOE’s Regional Training and Technical Assistance Centers (TTACs). TTACs are available to assist school divisions and program leaders in building effective systems to improve access and participation for all children within high-quality inclusive learning environments. VQB5 - Virginia's Unified Measurement and Improvement System
Last Week for VQB5 Data Verification – Friday, July 26 Deadline.
As of July 15 through July 26, all sites that participated in VQB5 during the 2023-2024 year have the opportunity to preview their quality profiles prior to results being posted publicly this fall. Data Verification provides sites with the final opportunity to verify information, review rating results, add ‘hours of operation’, and request corrections. At the conclusion of the data verification process, VDOE will review changes to quality profiles as necessary before finalizing and sharing publicly in the fall of 2024. Site administrators should review the information below for details about data verification completion.

On Wednesday, July 24, the calendar for STREAMin3 fall topics for 2024-2025 professional development will launch on the STREAMin3 events page and via email. The August webinar and Live Online will focus on the new digital curriculum portal and preparing for the new year.
