New Members of the VDOE Mathematics Team

The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members to the VDOE Mathematics Team:

Dr. Angela Byrd-Wright, Mathematics Coordinator

Dr. Angela Byrd-Wright will serve as the Mathematics Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Education. Dr. Byrd-Wright has over 20 years of instruction and leadership experience in division and school leadership positions, as a secondary mathematics teacher, and most recently served as the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning in Essex County. Dr. Byrd-Wright's focus is grounded in connecting, communicating, and investing in access, support, opportunities, and outcomes for all students, educators, and families.

Ms. Regina Mitchell, Mathematics and Special Education Specialist

Regina Mitchell will serve as the Mathematics and Special Education Specialist for the Virginia Department of Education. Ms. Mitchell has served in both division and school leadership positions and as the Director of Instruction in Greensville County. Regina has conducted professional learning at the national, state, and local levels and has served as an executive board member for many professional organizations related to curriculum development and educational leadership.
