From Our Leadership
We are excited to reengage with you all through the Quality Quick Takes. Many of you may not know me yet, as I have only served in School Quality Leadership since August of 2023. I have worked in Virginia Public Schools for the past 22 years in settings ranging from urban to suburban to rural. My roles have included teaching high school mathematics, to being an instructional specialist and supervisor. I have supported elementary, middle, and high schools in school improvement efforts as well as leading a regional full time governor’s school. For the past three years I have served in Teaching and Learning at the Virginia Department of Education, before transitioning to school quality. I am excited to serve in this capacity as my years of preparation for this have led me to be support and growth focused for the needs of every child in Virginia.
Over the past several months, OSQ has worked to rethink, expand, and purposefully focus on how we support students, schools, and school divisions across the Commonwealth. Through a more holistic approach, school divisions and their schools will be empowered to build stronger supports for students to attend a more academically beneficial learning environment. You can learn more about this effort in the Virginia Support Framework section below.
As you will see in the Upcoming Offerings section, the Office will be engaging very intentionally to develop plans over the next few months. We are excited to begin engaging with divisions and schools as we all seek to provide the best learning experience for all our students.

The Office of School Quality will work directly with school divisions to provide this support in the four critical domains identified in the Virginia Support Framework.
Each of the following framework domains include suggested resources and/or relevant research. The links that follow are provided as references to support the work of division and school improvement teams.
