Resources from WIDA:
This month, WIDA is highlighting a resource that focuses on collaboration, one of the four Big Ideas of the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. In What can collaboration look like with the WIDA ELD Standards Framework?, a two-page “comic strip” shows how content teachers and English Learner specialists can work together on their multilingual learners’ language development. Use this step-by-step example in tandem with Section four of the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition, which contains a more detailed look at the collaborative planning process.
Updated versions of the Preparing Students for ACCESS Online and the Suggested Sample Item Script: ACCESS for ELLs Online have been posted to the ACCESS Test Practice and Sample Items page on the WIDA website. Both documents now reflect changes to the DRC INSIGHT browser testing interface.

The VDOE is hosting two free virtual WIDA Professional Learning opportunities in November:
- ACCESS for ELLs Overview will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on November 14, 2023
- Alternate ACCESS for Test Administrators will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on November 16, 2023.

The VDOE Language Instruction Educational Program (LIEP) Models in Virginia self-paced course is now available for all Virginia K-12 public school educators and leaders. Join the English Learner Monthly Conversation from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. This professional learning community is for Virginia K-12 educators and leaders. You must register with your school/division email.
WIDA is conducting a survey to better understand how educators make sense of and implement the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. The survey will take approximately 25 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey, there is an optional extension opportunity for educators who wish to further engage with WIDA on this topic. Your participation in this study will provide the opportunity to lift your voice and inform future development of resources and professional learning. WIDA is encouraging interested educators to complete the survey by Friday, October 31, 2023.
