Virginia Children’s Engineering Council Convention The Virginia Children’s Engineering Council will hold an in-person convention in Williamsburg, February 23-23, 2024. The Call for Presenters is now open and information is available online. Proposals are due by September 15.
Coaches, ITRTs, Admins: Build Your Own Instructional Playbook Virtual Virginia, the VDOE, and VSTE invite administrators, instructional coaches, and ITRTs at Virginia public schools and divisions to attend a new professional learning series that will guide them in creating an “instructional playbook” to enhance the training they offer teachers locally. The free webinar series concludes this week at 1pm on Thursday, August 3.
Canvas's Training Services Portal Weekly Sessions Educators can participate in training sessions each week via Canvas's Training Services Portal. To find any of the sessions listed, make sure you are logged into your Canvas account for your local school division. Click on the Help button on the lower-left of the screen and then select Training Services Portal. The upcoming hour-long sessions are appropriate for Division and School Leaders, Statewide LMS Admin, Instructors, and Support. Call for Nominations to Board of Education Advisory Committee The Virginia Board of Education is seeking nominees for several vacancies on its advisory committees. A full list of vacancies is available on the Board’s Advisory Committee webpage. Some of the vacancies on advisory committees require specific categories of expertise, qualifications, or geographic representation. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations may be made by completing the Board’s Nomination Form for Advisory Committees by August 11.
2023 Donna Sterling Award Applications for the 2023 Donna Sterling Award are open until August 15 at 5 p.m. This award recognizes that exemplary teachers engage in continuous improvement of science teaching. Each awardee receives $4000 across two years to implement a professional development plan as well as registration and travel to Virginia Association of Science Teachers PD Institute in 2023 and 2024.
