2023 VDOE Fine Arts Leadership Conference
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is sponsoring the Fine Arts Leadership Conference for fine arts K-12 administrators and specialists. The Conference will be held on May 10, 2023, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on the campus of Longwood University.
The Conference will focus on topics of high quality, standards-aligned instructional materials, providing meaningful professional learning experiences, and data analysis related to fine arts education. Numerous resources will be provided to assist school division staff in supporting fine arts educators and students.
Each school division is encouraged to send individuals who supervise Fine Arts instruction for students in K-12, including central office fine arts specialists or a teacher leader identified by the central office specialist.
Conference registration is offered at no cost to school division employees and includes morning coffee/tea and lunch. Parking will be provided to all Conference participants at no charge. A detailed agenda will be sent to registrants prior to the event in addition to parking and meeting information. Participants will receive a certificate of participation for 5 hours of professional learning time.

Fine Arts Educator Survey - Share Your Thoughts!
This survey is for Virginia teachers of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts courses to inform work of the 2023 VDOE Fine Arts Steering Committee to develop relevant and high-quality instructional materials and professional learning experiences. Responses are anonymous. Fine arts educators are asked to respond by April 18, 2023.

American Orff-Schulwerk Association Teacher Education Level Courses – Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will hold Orff Level I, Level II, and Level III Instruction the weeks of July 17-28, 2023. Hosted by, and at the campus of, Collegiate School 279 N. Mooreland Road, Richmond, VA 23229. This course is designed to present the teaching methods of Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman, an innovative approach to building musicianship through the integration of music, movement, speech, and drama.
