NASA’s Commercial Crew 2023 Artwork Contest Now through October 27, children ages 4 to 12 years old can submit artwork in four space-related themes. Winning artwork will be selected from three age groups per theme, and first, second, and third place selections will be used to create an out-of-this-world calendar for 2023!

Work-Based Learning Reporting and Coding-Nov. 15 The VA Work-Based Learning Collaboration Group and Virginia Ed Strategies invites WBL coordinators, CTE and instructional directors to register for the Zoom session on Work-Based Learning, Reporting and Coding with Joseph Ryder, VDOE. This session will cover the relationship between WBL and the College, Career and Civic Readiness Indicator reporting through the Master Schedule Collection. The WBL Collaboration group is a network of leaders who are committed to collaboration, success, and growing Virginia's talent pipeline. 2022 VASCD Annual Conference The Conference brings together educators from across the Commonwealth to learn, teach, lead, and connect! This year’s conference will be held at The Williamsburg Lodge. Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Program This recognition will be given to teachers for secondary mathematics and secondary science. Computer science applications will be reviewed as part of the mathematics category, and engineering applications will be reviewed as part of the science category. Superintendent Memo 194-22 has all the details including the process, online nomination form link, and due dates. Nominations may be made by students, parents, teachers, and administrators. United States Vietnam War Commemoration Educational Resources The U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration, staffed with professional historians and educators, provides a collection of educational resources that cover a variety of topics around the history of the Vietnam War. For example, the site includes artifacts, videos, maps, posters, and a Teacher Toolkit. The Teacher Toolkit provides websites, activities, books and materials that can enhance course content, enable accessibility to middle and high school students at varied reading levels, stimulate student engagement and critical thinking skills.

Sea Air and Land Challenge This STEM initiative involves teams of high school students that learn about the engineering process through the design and build of a robotic system. The systems are then used to compete in challenges relevant to the Department of Defense which mimic missions encountered by the military, national security agencies and first responders. This one semester program can be used in or outside the classroom and no-cost curriculum is available. Registration is September 2022 through January 2023 on a first come first serve basis.
